This is entirely thanks to the efforts of our Tabla Maestro Sajal Karmakar and his long lasting (over 3 decades) close contact to the manufacturer in Calcutta (Sargam) and also to the respect that Sargam have for Sajal Karmakar as a tabla master. He takes care that the manufacturing of the tablas is according to his own professional standard. As the demand for Tablas has increased steadily all over the world during the last years, all of the good Tabla manufacturers have plenty of orders. They even have to refuse orders as they do not have enough capacity. The result is, unfortunately, that everything is exported to foreign clients in the western world, no matter what quality. Tablas are a handmade product and a good result depends on enough time, attention and skill, which are brought into the making of the instruments.

If you are already a tabla player you will appreciate this quality most. But even if you are a beginner you will be inspired from the beginning from the sound production of this instrument because ven a beginner enjoys practicing more, when his instrument is of a good quality and when a good and clear sound is easily achieved. Our Five Star Tabla is the result of the big efforts from Tabla Maestro Sajal Karmakar. He by himself is organizing the best quality of wood (see more information within the yellow link underneath). He chooses the best parts for production of the Tabla and he chooses and communicates with the best labor within the company Sargam to make sure that best quality comes out. After that all the ready tabla will be delivered to his home for test. If Sajal Karmakar finds that some of the instrument still are not according to his expectations he returns them and they have to be made again. He only accepts an instrument if it has the quality which he also would accept for his personla performance on stage. Several times the owner of SARGAM was wondering about all his efforts and told him why he introduces such a high standard to the western world. In business this high standard is not possible to hold. But Sajal Karmakar has this idealistic approach to send only this professional quality. This is the reason because you cannot expect this quality of Five Star Tablaset from any other importer who is supplied by Indian manufacturers and who has no choice but to take the quality they offer him.

This was possible due to the tireless effort and unbeaten will force of its propriator Mr. Kamal Kumar Das (Kundu Babu). Its fruits, i.e. the tablas has been used by many tabla mastroes like Ustad Ahmed Jan Thirkwa, Lt. Pt Gnan Prakash Ghosh, Lt. Pt. Santa Prasad, Pt. Kisan Maharaj, Lt. Ustad Afaque Hussain, Lt. Ustad Keramatulla Khan, Pt. Sankar Ghosh, Pt. Syamal bose, Lt.
